Booking your gun in and transportation

If you are interested in having your gun refinished please send a message via the contact us page. From there we can discuss finish options and arrange delivery of the woodwork. This can be done via appointment to my workshop in Basildon, Essex or having the wood furniture delivered to me and returned once finished.

Transportation of firearms can be difficult as they must be sent through Reregistered firearms dealers (RFD's). Therefore if the whole gun is to be sent, you will need to take it to your local gun shop to liaise with myself in order for me to receive it. This will incur shipping and usually handling fees.

If you are able to remove the stock yourself from the action, it may be sent via standard courier. Greatly reducing the shipping and handling fees incurred with shipping a whole gun.

How to remove the stock?

Most box lock guns such as Beretta's & Browning's have a single stock bolt located behind the recoil pad. Simply undo this, and the stock should become free from the action. Be careful to be as gentle as possible when removing the stock and the horns around the top strap are brittle.

How to remove the forend wood?

The majority of forend woods on over and under have flat or Philips head screws located in the middle where the barrel would sit. Simply remove these and slide the iron work out.

Some side by sides such as Blazer's can have Allen key or hex head screws located in the knuckle. simply remove these and the iron would will slide out. Be careful not to loose the metal thread inserts in the wood which will also slide out.

Side by sides can be slightly trickier and may need gun smith attention to remove. Please contact me if you are unable to remove a side by side forend wood.

If you have any questions regarding removing the wood work please don't hesitate to ask.
